ARLINGTON TX · COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
Outgrown strip-mall musallah today. A permanent home rising in phases, on the way.
By Lone Star Muslim · October 2026
Right now, the Mansfield Islamic Center worships in a strip-mall musallah at 6401 New York Ave in Arlington. It is warm, it is packed, and it is outgrown. And a few miles of faith and fundraising away, its forever home is rising phase by phase.
A 4.9 star Google rating from 87 reviews tells you what the building cannot: this is a community people love.

One big family
The masjid describes itself the way its people feel it: one big family, striving to create connectedness and unity for brothers and sisters across South Arlington, Mansfield, and Grand Prairie.
That is not a slogan on a wall. It is a Newcomer Service that welcomes families who just arrived. It is a Sunday school that teaches your kids the basics and the teachings of their Deen. It is confidential counselling for personal, marital, and emotional challenges, grounded in Islam. It is dawah and outreach that opens the doors outward, not just inward.
“One big family, striving to create connectedness and unity.”

Two Jumu’ahs, every Friday
Mansfield Islamic Center offers Jumu’ah twice every Friday: the first Jumu’ah at 1:30 PM, and the second Jumu’ah at 2:30 PM. Two sessions, one community, room for everyone.
A masjid that teaches
Education runs through everything here:
- Sunday School every Sunday, 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, teaching your kids the basics and the teachings of their Deen: Quran recitation, Islamic studies, and character-building, age-appropriate and welcoming.
- Youth Development Service: mentorship, educational programs, activities, and leadership for the next generation.
- Nikkah Service, Funeral Service, Newcomer Service, Dawah Activities, and Counselling Service.
Scholar-led
The masjid is led by Sheikh Dr. Morsy Salem, Imam and Religious Director since January 2022. He holds a Ph.D. with distinct honors from Mishkah Islamic University, founded the Tijan Islamic Society, and co-founded the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs in North America. Congregants praise him by name in their reviews, for his knowledge and for the way he teaches.

The new masjid: rising phase by phase
The new Mansfield Islamic Center will be about 12,000 square feet: roughly 6,000 square feet of masjid and community space, plus roughly 6,000 square feet designed to generate rental income, a sustainable revenue wing to support operations and programs for years to come.
The project moves in phases. Land acquisition, site plan and permits, building plans, and site clearing and grading are complete. The build has moved through underground utilities, foundation, steel, framing, and roofing, and the finishing work continues.
The goal is to pray inside before or by Ramadan, inshaAllah. The land is bought, the structure is up, and the finish line is in sight. The community is raising the final stretch together.
OUR LSM TAKE: A community that outgrew its walls is building a home to match its heart.
Support the masjid
The new masjid is being built as Sadaqah Jariyah, ongoing charity that keeps giving long after it is built.
Campaign goal: $500,000. All donations are tax-deductible (501(c)(3), EIN 27-2495661).
